Hello!
Welcome to our Winners Profile, showcasing the Design Winner of last month's Take It Make It challenge!
The very talented winner of the April 2019 challenge is:
Karen Dunbrook
Karen won the challenge with this beautiful card. We loved the stunning background, so many fabulous layers and a wonderful colour scheme too!
Q: Do people ever tell you ’I could tell that was created by you immediately!” ? Do you think you have a signature and recognisable style?
A:Yes, I do hear that from people commenting on my cards. I guess it’s the way I like to ink and create backgrounds that makes them recognize my work.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from? How do I get inspired?
A: I find inspiration in challenges, watching YouTube videos and on Instagram. I love learning new techniques from others. I always feel inspired when I pick up a new stamp set too.
Q: Do you ever challenge yourself to craft outside your comfort zone, and use colours and images that wouldn’t be first on your list of things to use?
A: I do like to challenge myself at times especially when it comes to colour combos. I need to get better with that. Trying to think of new ways to use what I already have is something I like to challenge myself to as well.
Q: Crafting with a seasonal theme: which is your favourite?
A: When it comes to crafting with a seasonal theme, I would have to say Christmas is my favourite. I love creating and sending cards off to keep in touch with my friends and to let them know that I am thinking about them.
Q: What do you do with all your completed art work?
A: What do I do with my cards? I love sending them out, giving them away to friends to use or I like to bundle them up to give as gifts.
We also asked Karen to share some of her favourite stamped creations with us, and tell us why she likes them so much. Here is what she has chosen:
"I love how this card turned out using one of my favourite colour combos. Simple inked bkg to help highlight this beautiful flower stamped on Yupo that was inked with alcohol inks" - Karen
"This was one of the fastest cards I ever made. I inked the background with some wet ink and a credit card then simply stamped this great image to complete my card" - Karen
