Take It Make It Challenge Winners Profile

Hello!

Welcome to our Winners Profile, showcasing the Design Winner of our last Blog Challenge!

The very talented Design Winner of our March 2017 challenge is

Nikki Acton

Nikki won the challenge with this amazing canvas! We loved the immaculate stamping, the wonderfully shaded colouring of the flowers contrasts so well with the textured appearance of the background!

We asked Nikki a few questions all about stamping (well, we are Craft Stamper after all!)

Q: How long have you been a stamper, and how did you get started?

A:  My introduction to stamping and craft came about 3 1/2 years ago from a friend I play badminton with. I visited her house to borrow a Halloween costume and saw her craft room and scrap books. I was instantly addicted!

Q: What are your favourite kinds of stamps, and do you have a favourite stamp company?

A:  I like a broad range of stamps from a variety of companies with my go to stamps being PaperArtsy and Tim Holtz. Stamping can be a focal point for me or contribute to a textured background.

Q: Describe your style, are you a messy kind of stamper or a more ‘clean and simple’ kind of person?

A: Messy – definitely messy. In fact clean and simple really scares me! I love working with paint, ink, texture paste, stamps and stencils and my craft desk normally has 5 or 6 projects on the go at once.

Q:What kind of projects do you like creating the most?

A: I enjoy creating both cards and wall art. Layers and texture nearly always feature in some way – even on the smallest card I will emboss a stamped image or add die cuts.

Q: Apart from stamps, what is the one product you wouldn’t be without when you craft?

A: It may be a broad answer but it has to be paint. I love that different types of paint can be used in so many ways – colouring, creating texture, creating a resist for inks, stamping, splattering etc.

We also asked Nikki to show us a couple of her favourite stamped creations,  and share why she likes them so much. Here are the gorgeous projects she has chosen:

"This project shows how stamping and mixed media go together so well! This wall hanging includes painted layers, stamping (with white paint on the tags and also on acetate for the Runway Girls), die cuts, stencilling and sanding!"- Nikki

"I have selected these cards as they make me smile. Sometimes when you have an idea you just have to go with it! "- Nikki
