Take It Make It Challenge: Winners Profile

Hello!

Welcome to our Winners Profile, showcasing the Design Winner of our last Blog Challenge!

The very talented Design Winner of our October 2016 challenge is

Rahmat Gouse

Rahmat won the challenge with this fabulous Autumnal card! We loved the beautiful colours of the leaves, the inks have blended so wonderfully together!

We asked Rahmat a few questions all about stamping (well, we are Craft Stamper after all!)

Q: How long have you been a stamper, and how did you get started?

A: I started stamping just 2 over years ago. Prior to that I used to make cards, only for my kids birthdays and special occasions, but with no stamping on the cards. I was looking for a hobby to keep myself busy, as my kids are already in their teens, and ended up coming across so many blogs featuring the stamps. Until then I had practically no clue what stamping was!
I was like a little Alice in the Wonderland, who wandered around blogs and YouTube, and taught myself all from scratch!
It was a big challenge to find stamps for me, as the place I live in has no crafting supplies. I researched a lot, and finally found the nearest place was Hong Kong, which is a different country! Believe it or not I go to Hong Kong, which takes an hour by sea. I cross immigration, and then visit my craft store to buy my stamps. But oh what fun it is! I simply love it despite all the challenges.

Q: What are your favourite kinds of stamps, and do you have a favourite stamp company?

A:  I love flowers, and background builder stamps the most. I have a decent collection of most of the popular brands, and I love most clear stamps.

Q: Describe your style, are you a messy kind of stamper or a more ‘clean and simple’ kind of person?

A: It took me a while to discover my very own style, when I started in 2014. I was all over the place. But it took me a very short time to figure out that I love ‘Clean and Simple’. I do try out other techniques, but CAS is my calling.

Q:What kind of projects do you like creating the most?

A: I make mostly cards, all occasion cards. I try my best to include sewing on my cards, as and when possible, as embroidery is my first love.

Q: Apart from stamps, what is the one product you wouldn’t be without when you craft?

A: I make mostly cards, all occasion cards. I try my best to include sewing on my cards, as and when possible, as embroidery is my first love.

We also asked Rahmat to show us a couple of her favourite stamped creations,  and share why she likes them so much. Here are the gorgeous projects she has chosen:

" I love this CAS card, I had doodled the flowers, and done stenciling, sewing using a shaded thread and beads. I used lazy daisy stitch for the flowers, and back stitch for the stems. Stamped part of sentiment, and heat embossed, and fussy cut the rest of the sentiment, added a glitter strip, and silver jewels to finish it off. Added the panel to the base." -Rahmat

"This is an acetate card, I started making acetate cards recently, I love stamping on acetate. I stamped the roses and leaves, it is a multiple stamping set, and fussy cut to add later to the base. I stamped some leaves and rose buds on the acetate to create a background. Arranged the fussy cut flowers and leaves on the front, along with the sentiment. A textured panel on the inside to write message, and a few gold jewels to finish off." - Rahmat
