Take It Make It Challenge: Winners Profile

Hello!
Welcome to our Winners Profile, showcasing the Design Winner of last month's Take It Make It challenge!
The very talented winner of the July 2018 challenge is:

stempelfrida
find her here: stempelfrida.blogspot.de

stempelfrida won the challenge with this amazing card. We loved the way the background stenciling pefectly compliments the wondefully coloured image. Just beautiful!

We asked stempelfrida a few questions about stamping (well, we are Craft Stamper after all!)

Q: How long have you been a stamper, and how did you get started?
A: I still remember the first stamp I bought for a special occasion in 2005. It was a firefly. Back then I was of the
opinion that stamping is kind of monotonous, since you would buy a stamp and then you only had one image
to play with and how boring would that be! How mistaken I have been! Jessi, a friend of mine, introduced me
into the world of stamps. I was 'set on fire', and started the real dive into the stamping scene with my first very
very big purchase of Magenta stamps in the beginning of 2006. Since then, I admit, I am addicted to stamps
and have collected thousands of them. I keep saying that stamping is like collecting postage stamps, but that
you can even use your treasures to create great things with them!

Q: What are your favourite kind of stamps, and do you have a favourite stamp company?
A: I wrote about a memory on my blog, which comes to my mind lately when creating cards. When I was a child,
my Mom drew outlines of fantasy flowers for me so I could colour them. I loved it … and still do! Maybe this
unconsciously drives one of my stamping passions. My TIMI winner card is a perfect example of what kind of
stamps I like most. It is fantasy flowers, fantasy mushrooms and animals especially from the forest or water.
I do love cartoon style stamps a lot especially if they are kind of funny or weird. PaperArtsy offers a lot of
stamps, which fall into my favourites and the German company Create A Smile has really cool stamps, just to
mention a few.

Q: Describe your style, are you a 'messy' kind of stamper or do you have more of a clean and simple style?
A: Though I am not that messy kind of a stamper, I try out various things, styles and techniques. My friends say
they love that there is always something new and surprising, but that they could always spot the special
'stempelfrida style'. I guess my style comes closer to neat?. While I started with earth tones, I now love to use
bright and flashy colours on my projects a lot, and try to experiment with colours and different kinds of
colouring media.

Q: What kind of projects do you like creating the most?
A: That is the easiest question for me: Cards – definitely.

Q: Apart from stamps, what is the one product you wouldn't be without when you craft?
A: I guess most crafters would call on their die cutting machine and yes, that is definitely a tool I use so much, but
even more I think it is worth paying special attention to something easy and seemingly self-evident: paper!
Paper for me -and I guess not only for me- is not just there to serve as a medium, but is used in so many
different ways. I like to make outlines on it, use it as a mask, as a tool to apply crystals or glue very accurately.
And for me it is also very important to be my perfect stamping base, underneath my project. Paper is a medium
and a tool for me. We all know how important it is to have the right paper for our projects.

We also asked stempelfrida to share some of her favourite stamped creations with us, and tell us why she likes them so much. Here is what she has chosen:

"In dedication to one of the companies which drove my passion for stamps, I chose this card with a gorgeous
fox stamp from Magenta. I still remember that I had the idea for the colours one night when falling asleep –
so glad I remembered it when waking up the next day! The colour medium is acrylic paint and, besides other
tools, I used a brayer to achieve the special texture" - stempelfrida

"One of the coolest events for stampers is the so called Medina, taking place twice a year in Germany. It brings
together stampers from all over Germany and some neighbouring countries to spend four days stamping,
chatting, exchanging ideas, techniques and products and …fooling around! I made this card at the Spring
Medina of this year with my newly bought stamp from Carabelle studio. It combines Copic markers with acrylic
paint, stamping with free style drawing. I would like to dedicate it here to the wonderful atmosphere at the
Medina, full of respect for all kinds of stamping styles. Stamping friends, you rock!" - stempelfrida
